Seamless everyday performance

The epitome of power and smoothness. Highlander's advanced 3.5-liter V6 engine produces 295 hp and 263 lb.-ft of torque. Flex some muscle with its 5000-lb. towing capacity or find yourself going farther with its EPA-estimated 24 combined mpg.

Multi-Terrain Select

Offering you more capability when the pavements ends, Highlander features Multi-Terrain Select on Al-Wheel Drive (AWD) models. When activated the system is designed to sense slippage and regulate wheelspin-helping to maximize driving performance on different surfaces.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS 2.0)

Pre-Collision System with Low-Light Pedestrian Detection

Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (PCS w/PD) is designed to help keep the road safe detecting a vehicle, pedestrian or bicyclist in certain situations. The latest system has enhanced low-light capabilities for pedestrian detection. By combining millimeter-wave radar with a camera capable of shape recognition, the system provides an audio-visual alert, warning you of a possible collision under certain circumstances. If you don't react, the system is designed for automatic braking support to help mitigate the potential for a collision.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist

Using Road Edge Detection or by detecting visible lane markings, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (LDA w/SA) is designed to issue both an audible alert and visual warning on the MID screen if an inadvertent lane departure is detected at speeds above 32 mph. If the system determines that the driver is not taking corrective steering action, the Steering Assist functions designed to initiate and provide gentle corrective steering to help keep the vehicle in the lane.

Confidence with every drive

Lane Tracing Assist

When the available Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) is enabled and lane markers are detectable, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) uses the lines on the road and/or preceding vehicles to help keep the vehicle centered while also displaying the vehicle's position on the MID screen. The system is designed to help reduce driver strain and increase convenience, and may benefit drivers most during traffic jams-but can be turned off using the MID.

Automatic High Beams

The Automatic High Beams (AHB) feature is a safety system designed to help you see more clearly at night-without distracting other drivers. Designed to active at speeds above 25 mph, AHB relies on an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggles between high and low beams accordingly to provide the appropriate amount of light. By using high beams more frequently, the system may allow for earlier detection of pedestrians and obstacles.

What does the Highlander have for power?

All Highlanders wield a 3.5-L V6 engine that gets a 295-horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque mixed well with a Direct Shift 8-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission. Opt for Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive if you like, from the standard Front-Wheel drive. Also, Trailer Sway Control is standard, and the Highlander can tow up to 5,000-lbs!

What do the different models have for features?

There are five models of the 2020 Highlander to consider: the L, LE, XLE, Limited, and Platinum. The Highlander can come with a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob combo, has a very smooth ride, and the rear cargo area has a hefty amount of space: 16 cubic feet! The initial L model brings in LED headlights, color-matched & heated power outside mirrors, an 8" touchscreen with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility, and three-zone auto temperature control. It also rides on 18-inch painted alloy wheels, has eight cup holders and four bottle holders, and rocks six speakers off the 8" touchscreen. The LE model folds in a power liftgate within its Smart Key System, LED foglights, a Material Black grille with a painted Silver surround, a conversation mirror, sliding and reclining fold-flat second-row bench seats, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel. On to the XLE model, note the accommodations like 18-inch machined-finish alloy wheels, a sunroof, second-row captain's chairs, roof rails, a black finish rear bumper, heated front seats, a larger driver information display, as well as Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging. The Limited gains 20-inch composite wheels, Soft-touch in-dash split-level shelf, navigation, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink universal transceiver, ventilated front seats, and a premium JBL audio system. It further builds out the Limited model with features like a leather-trimmed shift knob and tilt/telescopic leather steering wheel, a heated steering wheel, and a grille with a chrome-plated surround. Finally, the Platinum model incorporates a 12.3" touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, a surround-view camera system, a digital rearview mirror, a Bird's Eye View Camera with dynamic gridlines, and a 10-inch color Head-Up Display. The Platinum model further has a standard power panoramic view moonroof with a sunshade and one-touch open, as well as Dynamic Navigation and a JBL audio system with 11-speakers.
