There are a lot of things to consider when you're looking to buy a new crossover SUV. How much power you need, what features you can't live without, and more all help narrow down your decision. 2021 Toyota RAV4 Power & Handling

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 has three different engine options. The basic engine is a 2.5-Liter Inline-4 cylinder engine providing 203 horsepower, 184 lb-ft of torque, and a combined estimated average of 30 MPG. Next up is a regular hybrid combining a 2.5L I-4 combined with two electric motors to produce 219 horsepower and 189 lb-ft of torque while getting around 40 MPG. New for 2021 is a plug-in hybrid option that also combines a 2.5L I-4 and a pair of electric motors, this time with a larger lithium-ion battery. Front-wheel drive is standard on the 2021 RAV 4, but all-wheel drive is optional on all models while standard on the Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims. All engines are mated to a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid models, however, come with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

2021 Hyundai Tucson Power & Handling

The 2021 Hyundai Tucson comes with only two engine options, neither of which is a hybrid option. The first engine is a 2.0L I-4 that produces just 161 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque while getting 25 MPG on average. The second engine option is a 2.4L I-4 that tries to keep up with the RAV4 with 181 horsepower, 175 lb-ft of torque, and an average of 24 MPG. Like the RAV4, front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is an available option while not standard on any trim. Both engines are linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

2021 Toyota RAV4 Features & Design

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 comes in six available trim levels. The first trim is the LE. This provides drivers with a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, roof rails, LED headlights, automatic high beams, the option of a hybrid engine, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0. TSS2 includes forward collision mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and more! Next up is the XLE bringing dual-zone automatic climate control, blindspot monitoring, keyless entry/ignition, five USB ports, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The XLE Premium adds simulated leather upholstery, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a powered moonroof. The upper three trims, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited, add features like a 7-inch driver's information display, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, LED fog lights, heated front seats, and a panoramic rearview camera.

2021 Hyundai Tucson Features & Design

The 2021 Hyundai Tucson also comes in six trim levels. Kicking things off is the SE trim that brings a 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, 17-inch wheels, and driver attention monitoring. The Value Edition adds blindspot monitoring, keyless entry/ignition, roof rails, and heated side mirrors. Stepping up to the SEL trim tacks on dual-zone automatic climate control, 18-inch wheels, a second-row USB port, and rear-seat vents. The Sport trim adds 19-inch wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED exterior lighting, and wireless charging. The Limited and Ultimate trims add leather seating, power-adjustable front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, and automatic high beams.

Conclusion:

While the 2021 Hyundai Tucson competes with the RAV4 with features, it lacks severely in the drivetrain department. The Toyota RAV-4 gives consumers everything they need, from power to the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 suite's extensive safety features. Still not convinced?
