There are two engines available for the 2022 Tacoma, and they both provide you with tremendous power. On the SR and the SR5, you get a robust 2.7-liter four-cylinder that pups out an awe-inspiring 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Optional on these trims, and the standard for all others, is a 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out a hefty 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. Both engines pair with a six-speed automatic transmission, though higher trims can pair the V6 with a  six-speed manual. Rear-wheel-drive comes standard, though you do have the option of a part-time four-wheel-drive system with a low range transfer case for a little bit more added traction. You can also choose between an extended cab or a crew cab.

A total of six trim levels are available for the 2022 Tacoma, and each one comes with some of the best features on the market. The base trim is the SR which is known as a work truck as it comes with 16-inch steel wheels, sliding rear windows, heated side mirrors, movable bed cleats, a locking and unlocking vehicle remote, and dual-zone climate control. Tech features include a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a Wi-Fi Hotspot. The SR5 adds a few more exciting features, such as alloy wheels, a chrome exterior trim, an auto-dimming mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Several option packages are available for the SR5, such as a Dynamic Navigation package with rear parking sensors and a Trail Special Edition with all-terrain tires, all-weather floor mats, and locking storage bins. If you go with one of the higher trims, you are treated with even more sport and technology features such as a sport suspension, heated mirrors, a wireless charging pad, keyless entry and ignition, a sunroof, silver grille, and a 360-degree camera system. The most off-road features are available for the TRD Off-Road as it has a lockable rear differential, Bilstein shock absorbers, and an Advanced Off-Road Traction control system with multiple terrain settings.

Not only is the Toyota Tacoma powerful and has a ton of features, but several safety systems will keep you secure on and off the road. All trims come standard with Forward Collision Warning that warns you of an impending collision and can even apply the brakes in specific scenarios. You also get a Lane Departure Warning System that will alert you if your Tacoma begins to drift outside the painted lines. Lastly, an Adaptive Cruise Control system will allow the driver to maintain a pre-set distance between your Tacoma and the vehicle in front of it.
