We have now reached the 12th generation of the Toyota Corolla, and if something has been around for this long, you know it has to be popular! There are tons of reasons why drivers keep coming back to the Toyota Corolla year after year, including the vast number of engine options, a massive amount of tech, and a fuel economy that is among the best in the class. The 2022 version of this famed vehicle includes all of the things that make it desirable and also adds more flashy interior and exterior styling. While there is a lot about the 2022 Corolla that remains unchanged, that will be fine for most consumers as it still offers some of the best features in the class. L
We start with the base L trim, which comes standard with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out up to 139 horsepower and comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission. As for features, the L trim comes with LED headlights, 15-inch steel wheels, a driver information display, two USB ports, and cloth seats. On top of these wonderful items, the L also comes with a massive amount of tech, including a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That's not all! Every Toyota is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense which adds all the latest safety systems to the mix, including forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.

LE
Next up is the LE trim, which adds 16-inch steel wheels, heated side mirrors, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and premium fabric seats. You can also get more tech with things like an 8-inch touchscreen and a USB port for rear-seat passengers.

XLE
Want some more premium items? Then check out the XLE trim! It comes with a ton of upgraded features such as LED headlights and accents lighting, which creates outstanding ambiance, 16-inch alloy wheels, proximity keyless entry with push-button start, a sunroof, heated front seats, simulated leather upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. There are also more safety features available such as blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, which will monitor the areas around your Corolla so you can back up easier and make safer lane changes.

SE
The fourth trim is the SE trim which gives you a more powerful engine in the form of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that pumps out an impressive 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. that pairs with a dynamic continuously variable automatic transmission. This transmission has both Normal and Sport driving modes and steering-wheel-mounted power shifters. You can also opt for a six-speed manual transmission. Several advanced features are also available for the SE, including 18-inch alloy wheels, sport front seats, and sportier exterior trim accents. In addition, there is a Nightshade edition that adds a lack of exterior trim and unique 18-inch black-painted alloy wheels.

XSE
The final trim available is XSE which rounds things out nicely with things like 18-inch machined alloy wheels, spectacular grey metallic sport side rocker panels, and rear spoiler, and SofTex trimmed heated front sport seats with sport fabric inserts. All of the SE and XLE upgrades also come standard here. There is also a sharp-looking Apex edition with upgraded suspension components, a lower ride height, a black and bronze exterior trim, and optional summer performance tires.
