On the SR and the SR5, the Tacoma comes with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder that produced a healthy 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Optional here, and standard everywhere else, is a 3.5-liter V6 that gets you 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. The four-cylinder engine comes with a  six-speed automatic transmission is available throughout the trim lineup, though you can get the V6 with a six-speed manual on higher trim levels. As for features, the SR comes with 16-inch steel wheels, air conditioning, and cloth upholstery. Several safety features are available for the SR, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. But wait, there's more! The SR also has several tech items, including a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa compatibility, Bluetooth, satellite radio, onboard Wi-Fi, and three USB ports.

The SR5 adds to the SR with several more fun features such as alloy wheels, a chrome exterior trim, locking/unlocking vehicle remote, power-sliding rear window, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Additionally, the SR5 also comes with an auto-dimming mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch touchscreen. One of the best things about the SR5 is that it comes with three option packages to make your driving experience even better. The Dynamic Navigation package has a navigation system and rear parking sensors, while the Technology package has a blind-spot monitor with rear-cross traffic alert. Finally, the Trail Edition is worth getting as it has bronze-colored wheels, up to a 1.1-inch rear suspension lift, a heritage-style front grille, all-weather floor mats, a 120-volt outlet in the bed, and locking storage bins in the bed.

The TRD Sport is the first of the Tacoma's off-road capable trucks. It comes with 17-inch wheels, sport suspension, a hood scoop, heated mirrors, and body-colored fender flairs and rear bumper. You also get a standard 120-volt outlet in the bed, keyless entry and ignition, and a wireless charging pad. There are also several packages available for the TRD Sport. There is the Premium Sport package which has a sunroof, heated front seats, and leather upholstery, and an Advanced Technology package with a 360-degree camera.

If you want some premium off-road prowess, we recommend the TRD Off-Road trim! It comes standard with 16-inch wheels, a chrome rear bumper, textured black fender flairs, a lockable rear differential, Bilstein shock absorbers, and some advanced off-road traction. You also have the option of a Multi-Terrain monitor and sideview cameras.

Want more luxury items? Then check out the Tacoma Limited trim, which comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a silver grille, sunroof, leather upholstery, and a JBL audio system. Additional features include a standard blind-spot monitor with rear-cross path detection, rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.

Topping the range is the TRD Pro which gains even more off-road equipment and more luxury items. Standard here are features like 16-inch black-painted TRD wheels with all-terrain tires, an off-road-oriented suspension with FOX shock absorbers, a thicker front skid plate, upgraded exhaust, and a heritage-style grille with black lettering. Other features that were optional on other trims come standard here.
