Star Safety System

Backup Camera
When backing up, the area visible to the camera is displayed on the 8-in. touchscreen. 4Runner's available front and rear parking assist sonar * beeps to tell you how close the bumpers are from a detected object. The faster it beeps, the closer the object is.
CAPABILITY
Multi-Terrain Select
When you're in the thick of it, you can activate 4Runner's available Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) system for optimized traction. Just choose from four terrain modes, and this system helps regulate the wheelspin by automatically adjusting the engine throttle and traction control.
Electronic Locking Rear Differential
To help you negotiate uncertain terrain, 4Runner's available electronically controlled locking rear differential distributes engine power evenly to both rear wheels. Hence, they move at the same speed, even if one is off the ground. It is designed to help you maintain a controlled pace over obstacles.

You can upgrade to the premium version, which adds push-button start, SofTex faux leather seats, navigation, heated front seats, heated mirrors, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Looking for a sportier version of the 4Runner? The TRD Sport has you covered with a hood scoop, color-keyed exterior accents, a front spoiler, black roof rails, and unique 20-inch wheels. If you plan on doing some off-roading, check out the TRD Off-Road, which has 17-inch wheels, Crawl Control, a locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, and TRD Off-Road floor mats. Are you a luxury fan? Safety for the 4Runner
Beneath the 4Runners rugged exterior lies an incredibly safe vehicle! One of these fantastic safety features is the Adaptive Cruise Control system which will allow the driver to input a pre-set distance so they can follow safely behind the vehicle in front. Then there is the standard Forward Collision Mitigation system that will let you know if your 4Runner is about to have a head-on collision with several audio and visual cues and will even apply the brakes if you are unable to do so. The final safety system is the Lane Departure Warning that warms you when your 4Runner goes outside of the painted lines without signaling.
